Greg Mullins
Guitar, Acoustic Guitar, Talkbox, Keyboards, Background Vocals
Greg has been interested in music virtually all his life, from church and school choirs as early as first grade to school drum lessons starting in the fourth grade. He began his relationship with the guitar around the age of 8, when discovering his father's acoustic guitar hanging in the garage on a string and a nail. Dad's frustration had become Greg's fascination as he would sneak it down and begin mimicking some of the musicians he'd seen and heard on TV and radio. After breaking all but two strings, yet still trying to play "Louie, Louie" on it, Dad thought it might be worthwhile to get Greg some lessons. Soon Greg was backing up his church group and performed in his first school concert in the sixth grade with "My Sweet Lord". Another classmate of his had a Stratocaster and turned Greg on to lead guitar ... which has been his fascination ever since.
In High school, Greg became involved with the Jazz band. He began dabbling with the piano and formed his first band Stained Glass which performed 50's and 60's covers, as well as, some of the newer rock and soul music. Greg also joined a city sponsored musical/theatrical group The Minnesingers in which he participated in all aspects of the group (singing, dancing, and stage band). The highlight of this experience was performing at the World's Fair in Spokane, Washington.
Right out of high school Greg joined the Marine Corps. While in the service, he was involved with two bands Paradawn (Rock) and Freestyle (Disco/Classic Rock) both enjoyed some success at the local bases. After leaving the Marine Corps, Greg took a 4 year hiatus. During this time Greg dabbled with his new found love of fusion guitar and, shortly after, began learning the art of music sequencing. He began working on a solo project when he received a call from a drummer friend to put together the KOME radio station band The Blazers. The morning DJ's at KOME thought it would be a cool idea to get a band together to back up some of their rock and roll guests, however, their intention was more of a radio gimmick than a serious effort. With Greg's leadership and the luck of musicianship that had been tossed together, what started with 2 rehearsals and a great first show with Greg Kihn, evolved into a 5 year run backing musical greats such as these:
Steve Vai | Robin Trower | Pat Travers |
Rick Derringer | Eddie Money | Peter Frampton |
Keith Emerson | Ronnie Montrose | Night Rangers |
Damn Yankees | Mr. Big | Tesla |
The Smithereens | The Doobie Brothers | Many, many more |
As a lead guitarist, keyboardist, and background vocalist for Hotel California Greg expresses his love for this project by executing every nuance of the Eagles' music with perfect accuracy.
